Smart TV security is crucial because, without the right security protocols in place, cunning hackers may exploit holes in the operating system to get access to your device and even take control of it.
Today, smart TVs rule the consumer market, and the reason for this is obvious. With the help of streaming applications and broadcast content, smart TVs provide you access to a vast number of content. 

Like many other modern equipment, televisions could have security flaws that hackers could use against them.

These weaknesses may include:

-Software flaws: Smart TVs frequently use proprietary software or operating systems like Android. These may have bugs and security holes that hackers could exploit, just like any other type of software.

-Smart TVs have network vulnerabilities since they are connected to the internet, making them vulnerable to network-based assaults if not properly protected. It is possible to take advantage of outdated firmware, insecure connections, or weak Wi-Fi passwords.

-Physical Access: Your TV may be compromised, have malicious software installed on it, or have stored data accessed if someone has physical access to it.

-Third-party Apps: Installing apps from questionable sources or giving them a lot of rights can make them vulnerable.

It is not surprising that Researchers from Purdue University have identified holes in Smart TVs that might give an attacker control of the device and access to whatever data it contains. Google's Android TV platform has the vulnerability identified (CVE-2021-0889), and as a result, changes have been made to mitigate it.

Ways to prevent smart Tv attacks:

-Protect your router's login information. The smart TV and other devices in your home are connected to the Internet through your router. To ensure effective cybersecurity, the router must first be secured by changing the default admin password to one that is far more secure.

-Keep Your Smart TV Software Updated: By fixing vulnerabilities that hackers could exploit, updates typically increase security. Always update apps and the firmware of your smart TV as soon as updates become available.

-Downloading only trusted applications Several apps can be downloaded to smart TVs. If you don't download apps from the smart TV's app store, you are, however, taking a chance. Many programmes are infected with viruses and spyware.

-Don't allow your visitors or kids to take control of your smart TV. It is better to control the smart TV yourself. This might stop them from going into the operating system setting of your smart TV.

-Go for the best smart TV. Because of security, make sure you buy the good one. There are cheaper ones in the market and sometime you buy cheap stuffs not because of your pocket but because you want to feel you belong which is ok. It is better to buy non smart TV than the other way round.
